Black Snapper was formed in Napier, New Zealand, in late 2003 by Roy Brown and Marty Forrer, and rapidly became the hardest working band in Hawke's Bay.

One of only two or three rockabilly bands in New Zealand, we play the music of Bill Haley, Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and the neo-rockabilly of the Stray Cats and Hillbilly Hellcats .

Black Snapper's standard lineup is Roy Brown on vocals, Marty Forrer on stand-up bass, Dennis Maunder on drums, and Tex Gretsch on guitar. For special occasions we are privileged to be able to add When the Cat's Away star Kim Willoughby to the show.
